肖申克的救赎英文读后感 1

Abstract: This film Shawshank Redemption describes a man called Andy Dufresne was sent to the prison for he murdered his wife but in fact he was innocent. Then he started fighting against with the wicked prison life. Though he suffered many unfair treatments and ordeals, he never gives up himself. Due to his intelligence and perseverance, he spend 20 years successfully escape from the prison as a redemption. He teaches me that never lose hope.

Keywords: hope; redemption; freedom; dream

The story took place in 1940. A man who is a banker called Andy Dufresne, was sent into the Shawshank prison, for he murderer his wife and her lover in bed. However, he was innocent as he said. The new days in the prison were hard to live. It’s violent, heartless and cruel. Nevertheless, A month later, Andy began to make friends with other prisoners. And one of them called Red, who could get anything what he wanted. Andy bought a mallet from him and started his plan to escape. During this time, he did many things: expanding the library, caving stones, helping the corrupt warden to get money or bribe, etc. Then a young prisoner’s coming break his quiet life in jail. But the warden killed the young prisoner the only man that knew Andy was innocent. Then he knew the prison he could not stay any more. It took him 20 years to tunnel secretly and he successfully escaped from the prison. When he got free, Andy sent the evident which could prove the warden corruption, briber and murdering to the policy agency. Before that, Andy had told his best friend Red that his dream---Zihuatanejo, a warm place without memory. After escaping, Andy lived a free life in another identity and made the prison governor arrested. Several years later, Red was approved to leave. for the promise to Andy. Finally, in Zihuyatanejo, they met.

The cruel prison life terrified me and the friendship moved me. The story goes to a happy ending---redemption. This film impressed me a lot. A sentence was said in the film: ’Some birds arent meant to be caged, but most birds will choose to stand it.’

In this film, as we can see, the Shawshank Prison, which enjails lots of people. They have been in the prison form many years ,so they won’t go abroad. Because they won’t and also they can’t. They lived here for years without hope, and they lived just in the small prison, where nobody knows what is their dream and what’s their hope. As I remember, a old man Brooks was released after he had been in the jail for 50 years. But he found that the world became completely different from the world he imagined. For example, he seldom see cars before. He felt very strange and helpless to the outside world He can hardly adapt to the new developed world. He would rather stay in the prison. So unfortunately he chose to commit suicide.

However, on the contrary, Andy said a converse sentence:’ Some birds arent meant to be caged, thats all. Their feathers are just too bright…’ He long for the freedom and strive for it! What I remember very clearly is someone said that “These walls are kind of funny things like that. First, you hate them, then you get used to them. Enough time passed, get so you depend on them. That is institutionalizing.” But Andy hadn’t been affected. He insisted on his faith of freedom. He dared to pursue his deserved freedom! That’s the first point I appreciate.

What’s more, another thing I think is friendship. Of course, Andy’s perseverance and endeavor is the main reason that he succeed in escaping. But it can’t be denying that friendship is also a important reason. Without the friends’ help in the prison, especially red’s, He can’t break the prison, too. Even in the jail which is the most evil place that Andy could make it a significance place. He had transformed a storage room smelling of turpentine into the best prison library in New England. Then the prisoners read the books and got knowledge from it. Andy also helped them to pass the high school equivalency. The glitters of him lighted others’ life. That helps him built many sincere friendships in the prison. He just too bright that didn’t belong to the prison .Then he escape and gained the freedom.

Furthermore, the patience, courage and strong willpower are the keys to escape. 20 years, not a short ordeal time, but he endured. He made his plan day by day, week by week and year by year. He never gives up. he took nearly twenty years to dip a tunnel with a little rock hammer which Red said it would take a man 600 years to tunnel under the wall with one of these to fight for his free .And he did it finally. Please imagine, crossing the tunnel he dup, he still should crawled through five hundred yards of shit-smelling foulness. That is the length of five football fields.

Then is the last but not least, I think. He has the bright brain ,the never fading persistent, and the most important thing----hope. Just as Andy said to Red: Hope is a good thing, may be the best of things. In this film, Andy show us that how good thing the hope is. Yes , hope is a good thing. Whatever it is, it can’t lock the hope. We all have dream. We all have hope. We all have it and please never give up, like Andy.

This film, Shawshank Redemption, teaches me a lot. It deserves to be one of the most overwhelming films in the Hollywood.

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 2

I read it again and again." The Shawshank Redemption", a lot of feelings. In the film Andy Du Frei was wrongfully convicted in court, Xiao Shenke prison. Andy every hour and moment not longing for freedom and hope, faith that he spent 29 years of time. When he escaped, hope and freedom of the distillation. "

I guess it comes down to a simple choice: get busy living or get busy dying." this is Andy impresses me saying," Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." it tells us that important.

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 3

Everyone is the god of his own. If you have succumbed to yourself, then who can be your savior all through the world? ---Form The Shawshank Redemption

The story begins with the trial of a young banker called Andy, who victimized by circumstantial evidence and be put into the Shawshank prison. Ellis and many other prisoners had been in the prison for so many years that they had accustomed to this kind of life. Even they did not want to go out. It’s not only because they can’t, but also that they lived here for years without hope.

You see, they lived just in the small prison living a boring life, it’s a gray world where nobody knows what their dream was, what their hope was.

However, as the old man said: Some birds arent meant to be caged, but most birds will choose to stand it. Though they tried too many times, they never finished it, so they gave up. Nonetheless, Andy tried. He has the smart brain, the never fading persistent, as well as the most important thing----hope. With a small hammer to dig through the tunnel to drainage pipe, and then climb over the drainage pipe outside to the river, Andy succeed in escaping the constraint .

The scene impressed me most is when Andy got out of jail, he extended his arms in front of him in the heavy rain as if he were welcoming the fresh air and the freedom. At that moment, I saw the confidence win the darkness, bright light dazzles the eyes in the dark blue sky. Under the light, I could feel my recreant heart being shivering as his voice said: “Remember, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies!”

It’s obvious that hope is a good thing. Whatever difficulty it is, we can’t lose the hope. Hope is enduring. Why we study? Because of the hope. We don’t hope us to be the man who nobody knows, so we go ahead for the dream. That it is , hope is worthy to be kept on the way to realize our dreams.

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 4

I first read "The Shawshank Redemption" in high school, and I read it again recently. A good book, always want to let people read again and again, aftertaste for a long time, like a thing engraved on the heart, leaving a brand in the heart, can not be forgotten for a long time. The movie of the same name "Shawshank Redemption" also gave me a great inspiration after watching: even if the difficulties, but also unswervingly believe in hope.

In every book we read, the ultimate purpose is to read ourselves, to meet our inner selves in the book, and to transform the power of the book into our own power. In the future life full of hope, more calm, full of confidence.

There can be no true happiness without suffering, so suffering must be borne before salvation. If misfortune is a coincidence, it is for banker Andy, when he found his wife has an extramarital affair, the inner conscience he did not choose to shoot them, and the coincidence of time let him bear the sin that can never be redeemed, the unfortunate life began from Shawshank Prison.

However, although he was physically and mentally tortured, Andy did not lose his confidence in life, and insisted on reading books, grinding stones, and playing chess every day for 20 years, and dug through nearly 500 meters of tunnels with perseverance and persistence. There are some things in this world that cannot be carved with stone. There is a place in our hearts that cannot be locked away, and that place is called hope.

Imprisoned for an injustice, but can only be satisfied with the status quo, trapped in the walls but also full of freedom. Compare with an old man who has lived in prison for 50 years, but after he gets out of prison, he doesnt know how to live, so he commits suicide. The system is a very strange thing, at first, people resist it, then gradually get used to it, and finally, can not live without it.

When Andy inadvertently learned from Tommy that the killer of his wife and the third party, happy to find the warden request to overturn the case was rejected, Tommy was also killed. Andy realizes that only he can save himself, and he uses his knowledge to help the warden launder money. After escaping, he took out the untainted money, sent the evidence of the wardens corruption and murder to the newspaper, completely defeated the power of the prison chief, and justice will eventually triumph over evil.

Some birds can never be caged because their feathers are just too bright!

The Redemption of Shawshank, the Nazi High Man, the dead body, the coming of Late winter these four novellas, together, reflect Stephen Kings writing process and the changes in writing psychology, and the twists and turns in his life, but also the style and vitality after fame.

肖申克的救赎,纳粹高徒,尸体,暮冬将至这四篇中篇小说,总和在一起,反应了斯蒂芬金的写作历程和写作心理的变化,及他人生中的波折和坎坷,也有成名后的风采和活力。

The ups and downs of Stephen Kings life have a lot in common with these four stories. When he was in primary school, he was spurned by the headmaster because he wrote a horror novel. The psychological shadow of childhood made him reflect his prototype in the novel in the future creation space.

斯蒂芬金一生的起起伏伏与这四篇有很多的相像之处,小学时候他因为写了篇恐怖小说被校长所唾弃,儿时的心理阴影使他在未来的创作空间中,将自己的原型都会在小说中体现。

The experiences of the banker in Shawshanks redemption, Todd in the Nazi high-class, and Stephen in the coming of winter can diffraction the different psychology of Stephen in different periods. When popular literature and serious literature attack the literary world, many writers have been criticized for this. Stephen King is no exception, but he always insists on his love for horror novels.

From the rejection of the witch Carrie to the issuance of millions, from a depressed banker to an innkeeper, from an ignorant teenager to an unpredictable murderer, from a literary writer to a time traveler, all reflect Stephen Kings early loneliness to fame, during the confusion, pressure, and trouble for livelihood, can be deeply felt in the novel.

As the saying goes, if you are close to a man, he will be dark.

俗话说,近朱者赤,近墨者黑。

In the redemption of Shawshank, Red was gradually infected by Andys hope for life and pursuit of the future, which made Red full of confidence in his new life after being released from prison. However, among the Nazi high students, a 14-year-old honest young man found Dusand, a Nazi officer in World War II, out of curiosity. At the beginning, he just wanted to know more about history.

His heart is similar to Dushans heart, the desire for blood, respect for history, and slowly become a homeless executioner, but when his life is heading to the peak, his inner depression is about to break out, and from now on, it is a mystery.

自己的内心与杜山德的内心相性相近,对血性的渴望,对历史的崇敬,慢慢成为一个流浪者的刽子手,但是当自己的人生走向巅峰之际,他内心从小的压抑即将爆发,从此金玉其外败絮其中。

From darkness comes light, and from darkness comes light.

光明源于黑暗,黑暗涌现光明。

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 6

The Shawshank Redemption is a novel written by American writer Stephen Smith. King labored to write it, and it was collected in his collection "Four Seasons of Wonder," subtitled "Hope for Spring." Today, it has not only been translated into many languages, but also made into a movie of the same name, both the book and the movie are deeply loved by everyone, of course, I am also one of them, otherwise there would be no todays article. In my opinion, the reason why this original book or film has been popular in China and is favored by Chinese readers and fans is that it is frequently read and updated, and people of different ages will have different experiences and perceptions when they read it.

Prison is an important factor in this book, and I think it can be one of the main characters in this book. It is practical and real in the book, is cold, no temperature, it circles people in this limited space, so that people lose their freedom. Why are people so enthusiastic about the Shawshank Redemption and give it such high praise? Maybe they all saw themselves. Isnt that what they say? Some unknown people, while shaping the heros tombstone also engraved their own names on the tombstone. The prison in the book is actually the prison in each of us. Shawshank Prison has a shape, it can be seen with the naked eye, and it can be touched with the hand. And the prison in each of us becomes a comfort zone where we escape reality, settle for the status quo, or go with the flow.

There are too many people in real life who are trapped in Shawshank Prison. They are like a machine programmed to repeat the same actions every day and live a repetitive life. Although their bodies are free, their souls have no home. Just like the author of the book wants to tell us, you may not like it at first, but gradually you get used to it, and eventually you cant live without it. Thats the scary part.

"I have old people and children to support", "I have a car loan and a mortgage to pay", "I want to marry a wife and children", "I am not my father is not Wang Jianlin", "I have a low education", "besides this I will do nothing"... Therefore, even if some people are dissatisfied with their current situation, even if some people know that their hearts have been imprisoned and lost their freedom, and they have lost the hope of escaping, these have become a good medicine for their self-comfort and make themselves more comfortable.

So now there is a common social phenomenon in society, that is, peoples happiness is getting lower and lower, and some people even have no happiness at all. Everyone is busy, non-stop busy, you ask him what he is busy, they may not be able to say, is that they feel their time is very tight, every day being chased by time, have to run. Their bodies are so busy that they ignore their own feelings. If the heart is closed, everywhere is a cage. If the heart is free, everywhere is a beautiful scenery.

In the book, there is a characters ending worthy of our reflection, he is the old Cloth who has been imprisoned all his life. When he was set free, he killed himself. Because he had been in prison for so long and was so used to life inside, he never thought about getting out of prison. Even if he can get out of the "prison", it is not lucky for him, but a disaster. For all these years he had lived not only in a prison given to him by reality, but also in a prison of his own making.

Many people stay in a job they dont like for a long time, and they think about leaving all day long. But if one day they are really fired by the company, although they will not have the same ending as old Cloth, they will certainly have the same feeling as old Cloth.

And the hero of the book Andy is completely different from the old cloth, Andys heart has always had a blue sky. Although he was wrongly imprisoned, he never lost hope and always yearned for freedom. And finally he did it, and it wasnt something that could be done in a day or two, and it took him almost 20 years. For nearly 20 years he dug his way through little by little, always confident in the slim hope. Andy will finally be a free man and we have a lot to learn.

First, the goal. Andy has always had poetry and distance in his heart, so he set himself the goal of going out as soon as he went to prison. Having a goal is equivalent to having faith, and having the courage to face the cold prison walls and iron bars. While most people in real life are confused, they just live for the sake of living. When you encounter difficulties in life, you either escape or give up on yourself.

The second is accumulation. "No steps, no miles. No small stream, no river. Andys road to freedom accumulated 19 years, took 19 years, by his hammer and hammer to carve out. Just like many people in our lives have made up their minds to change the status quo, but most of them have failed. The reason is that they did not keep their feet on the ground, did not accumulate enough quantity, and did not give up until the moment when quantitative change led to qualitative change. Their failure is not accidental but inevitable.

The third is perseverance. Andys escape was unimaginably difficult, tens of meters of holes and hundreds of meters of unbearable sewer pipe crawling. Ordinary people cant do that. Success in many things in life is not easy, you must pay a lot to bear a lot to succeed. The process of pursuing must have perseverance, otherwise it is easy to give up. There are too few people like Andy in life, so there are only a few people who can achieve a lot.

Finally, I end my thoughts with Andys words, which have touched me the most and are shared here with everyone: "Remember, hope is a good thing, perhaps the best thing of time, and no good thing ever dies!"

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 7

Even if you fall down for the 99th time, you must get up for the 100th time.

Thats when I learned from the Shawshank Redemption. The film tells the story of the protagonist, Shawshank, who spent 20 years digging out the channel with a small chisel and finally ran to freedom. I really learned a lot from it. At first, I couldnt believe that a man had spent 20 years of his life with nothing but a small chisel! How tenacious is Shawshanks perseverance to keep going? What was the urge so strong that he resisted the stench of crawling 500 yards down a sewer? I think it was Shawshanks strong desire for freedom that made Shawshank successful!

Persistence is an abstract thing; Its not hard, its not easy. That, of course, is what most people think. But who persevered? The answer is: very little. But if you ask who persevered, it worked. Both, I guess. To take a well-known example: Socrates, a great ancient Greek philosopher, said to his disciples one day: Who can keep throwing his hands 300 times a day? After a week, everyone raised their hands proudly, but after a month, I found a handful of people who awkwardly let go. Six months later, only a handful of hands went up. A year later, only one hand was raised in the hand of the man who put it down. He was one of the greatest later philosophers of ancient Greece: Plato! 300 hands off for the average person is very simple, but long-term hands off is really not easy!

As can be seen, persistence can be said to be the key to our success! In the 14 years I have walked, I have also experienced. I started dancing when I was seven years old and practiced dancing when I was seven years old. Over the past seven years, I have sweated my ass off, eventually earning myself 18 gold MEDALS and a Level 1 to 8 certificate of excellence. So I want to say to those who want to give up: Come on! Please persist, the road you take is the one you want to survive on this road, instead of saying give up in frustration, persist, I believe you will succeed!

Where there is a will, things become, burn or burn, after all, two Qin Guan Chu, the people, day not, remorseful, three thousand more a can swallow Wu.

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 8

The prison at Shawshank is suffocating, nurturing life as well as deprivation, sowing despair as well as hope.

The beginning of the story is that a big man is walking in the street, and he suddenly goes to the prison, but he is wrongly accused, is mistaken for the murderer and sentenced to death. He is the protagonist of this book, just arrived at Shawshank prison, a foul smell came, the eyes of the people around him like to eat him, but he was not timid, secretly in his heart made up his mind - change them, and escape.

At noon, he was not complicit, which attracted the attention of the "bullies", deliberately looking for his trouble, "arent they all murderers?" Pretend to be honest." He was expected to retort, but he kept silent, which bored the "bullies" and left on their own.

After a month of silence, he had his first communication with the "bully" in order to ask for a small stone hammer, and in the short conversation, they seemed to feel that he did not belong here. Later, he successfully integrated into the "Shawshank", life ushered in a turning point, he sometimes taught others to read and write, to the lifeless Shawshank brought life.

Finally, the news came from outside the prison, saying that a witness had been found, who could find out the truth of the case. As soon as the news reached his ears, he did not close his eyes for several exciting days, and the people beside him did not give up looking at him happily. Sit on the police car, looking out the window, like a newborn who just came to this world, full of surprise eyes to look left and right, but halfway to be told that the person is dead to go back, hope shattered again...

At the end of the story, he drew a full stop for his life, justice was not absent, and those "bullies" also regained a new life.

He was in prison and his mind changed, it seemed that he did not believe that the fate of the heaven fell to himself, but he did not give up, because he knew that once the light of hope was extinguished, life would suddenly become a dark.

After reading this book, I cant help feeling his will, experiencing trauma again and again, but still able to stand up, if everyone is like him, there will be no losers in the world, some birds can not be locked, because it is scattered with the glory of freedom, I hope that each of us can become that bird.

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 9

The Shawshank Redemption tells the story of banker Andys "self-redemption" and his pursuit of freedom in order to see the light again. To a certain extent, it attacked the American judicial system and prison system at that time, and the protagonist Andy was framed into Shawshank Prison under the imperfect legal system. In the dark prison, Andy suffered a lot of injustice, but he always maintained the desire for survival and the enthusiasm for hope, it is with this belief, Andy finally escaped and obtained freedom. Unlike the protagonist Andy, another key character in this book, Red, although he sees the nature of prison, he never wants to fight, he just conforms to the rules of the prison in order to protect himself. Until Andy comes along and changes him and guides him to finally be free.

I believe that the reason why a good classic book is enduring is because it can make a profound and lasting impact on readers. And "Shawshank Redemption" is a book worthy of our reflection and taste, it through the description of life, triggered us to think about freedom. In this book, freedom is kept out by the prison walls, and the prisoners have been trapped inside the walls for a long time, gradually getting used to the loss of freedom, the loss of hope and the prison environment. Even when they were eventually released, they fled because they could not adapt to a free society. However, what really saved Andy was not prison, nor the Bible, but hope, which saved his freedom and realized a kind of inner salvation. No matter what kind of trouble, the mind is always free. When the body is imprisoned, as long as the soul can continue to pursue hope and freedom, then you are free.

To have freedom is a beautiful and happy state, which means not only physical liberation, but also inner freedom. Even when we are at the bottom of despair, we should still have hope and hold on to our lives in pursuit of freedom. Hope cannot be bound, cannot be imprisoned, it is like a bird with wings, like moving air, like continuous breathing, it is eternal and endless, and no darkness can pollute it. When we have hope, we have all possibilities.

肖申克的救赎英文读后感 10

The Shawshank Redemption was written by American writer StephenEdwinKing, who has written screenplays, op-ed reviews, and worked as a film director, producer, and actor. The story of the novel begins with banker Andy being jailed for shooting his wife and her lover. Therefore, in the later part of the story, the protagonist Andy quietly and step by step plans to save himself for the camp and finally succeeds in escaping and recapturing his freedom. The book tells the story of the redemption of each other in a prison called "Shawshank" from a third-person perspective.

This book is different from other feature films in that it takes place in a prison, which has a negative impression, and tells the fact that prison makes people in prison "stereotypical." For example, Andys cellmate Brooks, who is also the head of the prison library, was released after 50 years of prison life because of good performance, but in these 50 years of prison life, Brooks was "institutionalized", and the outside world made Brooks feel inadequate everywhere, and finally chose to commit suicide and leave the world. As described in the book, "I tell you, these walls are very interesting, first, you hate them, then, you adapt to them, and over time, you begin to live without them, this is institutionalization." But there is also a bright spot in the story, that is, the protagonist Andy. The protagonists actions tell us how precious "hope" is to people, and finally realize self-redemption.

The narrative of this book is approachable, but the story is attracting us, in our impression, the understanding of the prison is one-sided, we think that it is the wall of the sinner, and the people inside are all evil people. But "The Shawshank Redemption" taught me that there are some pretty people in prison. Although prisons can imprison people, they cannot imprison their souls, as the book says: "There are some birds that cannot be caged, their wings are full of hope."
