The way that the Chinese celebrate the Lunar New Year poses a national issue concerning the necessity of holding the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Its established status is being challenged by a growing number of people, especially by younger generations. It is increasingly difficult to cater for all tastes.
Some individuals deem that it should be canceled or replaced by other programs. These young people focus their attention on other forms of celebration instead of immersing themselves in TV programs. Despite that, the majority of mid-aged people and senior citizens uphold the importance of the traditional performance. The most striking feature of this Gala is its traditionally close link with ordinary people's lives.
Most of people view this Gala as an annual staple on the traditional Chinese Spring Festival Eve. They all have a restless night and glue their eyes on the television screen.
I am not supportive of the view that the grand Gala should be abandoned. Undoubtedly, it plays a vital role in the celebration of Chinese New Year. To increase its appeal and meet young adults' need, the upcoming performance should invite some big names including super stars from Hong Kong and Taiwan. We are all eagerly anticipating this unforgettable evening show.

Tomorrow is the eighth day of the 12th lunar month on the traditional Chinese calendar. It is also the Laba Festival, in Chinese, Laba means ‘gold eighth’ and refers to the traditional start of celebrations for the Chinese New Year.
On this day a special hot rice porridge, called Laba Zhou, is eaten, which contains glutinous rice, red beans, millet, Chinese sorghum, peas and some other ingredients, such as dried dates, chestnut meat, walnut meat, almond, peanut, dried lotus seeds and etc. Eating porridge on Laba is believed to bring good fortune in the New Year. The flavor varies from place to place, in the North, it is a dessert with sugar added; in the South, salt and seasonal vegetables are put in.
This tradition has its roots in the Buddhist faith. It is said when Sakyamuni left home and strived for virtue, he fainted on the way because of hunger and tiredness. A shepherdess passing by saved him and cooked for him some porridge with glutinous rice and nuts. Then Sakyamuni sat under a bodhi tree in meditation and found Buddhism. So later the believers formed the habit of cooking Laba Zhou to commemorate it.

I wake up in the morning, when the Spring Festival just think: "if I can get parents accident in the morning of New Year's money, can have a lot of snacks to eat, that it would be great! When thought of here can't help jumped out of bed, but the cruel fact had to let me out of the fire of hope in my heart. I'm a telling myself: don't be wishful thinking, you are children of the poor, and then, I only sitting silently in the doorway, looking at other children happy smiling face.
Is a series of firecrackers, put me back from the past. Yes, I it's time to get up, though not parents' money, and the wide variety of snacks, but bed.
I finished at very fast speed wash and dress, when I step out the door, hall scene caught my eye, that's right! That is my mom and dad put out snacks, that's right! When I think of this, mother walked to come over, the hand also took a new 50 yuan, with infinite care, said: "lili, happy New Year, this is your lucky money this year, with good, don't lost!"

The Spring Festival is a traditional festival for all Chinese people; on that evening there is a very traditional ceremony----Spring Festival Gala, which is the favorite for many people. It brings so much happiness to Chinese all around the world in the past twenty years.
When asked about their opinion on Spring Festival Gala, people always reason differently. Some people deem that it should be cancelled, while there are also other people who argue that it should be continued.
Some people take it for granted that the Gala should not exist because it is too boring on the evening of the Lunar New Year. Besides, the form of the Evening seems the same every year. In comparison, there are, however, a large number of people who hold a different view concerning this issue, they maintain that the Gala must be continued. They argue that it is one of the most important celebration customs. And they think the Gala is worth expecting.
As far as I am concerned, I am intending to stand on the side of the latter group of people. Admittedly, the former point of view seems reasonable, but the latter is more persuasive. Taking the above-mentioned factors into consideration, I can safely conclude that the Gala just needs a reform in the future but to be cancelled.
